June 8th, 2005

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The truck with Convention materials left early this afternoon from the diocesan offices. Bishop Harold Miller's plane from Ireland touches down this evening. This means that the countdown to the 137th annual meeting of the Diocese of Albany is underway.

Registration opens at 2:00pm.

Friday early bird workshops begin at 2:30.

Friday night Evensong begins at 7pm

VESTING for the Saturday Convention Ordination Eucharist: Albs and Red stoles. The Liturgy begins at 3:30. Vested clergy should be in front of the main convention building (Tibbits Auditorium) at 3:10.

The Sunday Youth Mass begins at 10:15 a.m.

Sunday I was at St Luke's, Mechanicville where Fr Fred Leach is doing a great job. You'd never know he is supposed to be retired. The parish is looking forward to the purchase of a new site to build a new parish plant. The early Mass was in the rectory chapel, and for the 2nd service St Luke's meets in the Church of the Assumption. A nice ecumenical gesture.

Bp Dave was at Trinity, Gloversville and reports the dynamic worship with a new praise band. Fr Hio is also hard to categorize as retired.

Mrs. Becky Pratt, widow of Leonard, has died at the age of 62. A memorial Mass is tentatively set for July 22 at 6pm at Saint John's, Cohoes. Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord.

I look forward to seeing most of you at Camp-of-the-Woods.

SPECIAL THANKS to the Parishes, Daughters of the King, the Cursillo Community and all individual intercessors who have been engaging in special prayer the past month in anticipation of this important gathering. Thanks also to Dr Jeanne Gizara who has provided a regular supply of Intercessory Prayers for the convention. "Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it."

LORD JESUS, may you be glorified these coming days by your faithful people in the diocese of Albany assembling at Camp-of-the-Woods. Pour your blessings upon the Laity, and Clergy, on the Youth and on the eleven Ordinands. Renew us by your Holy Spirit that we may be effective and fruitful in bringing in the Harvest. Amen.

In Christ,
+ Dan
