Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Yesterday at Christ the King, I was pleasantly surprised to see a busload of disciples from the Susquehanna Deanery with some of the deanery clergy. They came to visit the SLC, take a tour of the facility, and to enjoy lunch with others. The St Lawrence Deanery did the same this summer and it brought folks who would not normally be driving over there. Parishes might think about bringing a carload, especially at this time to enjoy the change of seasons.
The public Service of Healing is always held on Tuesday mornings at 10:00.
The Deacons of the diocese will be on Retreat (together with the Bishops) this weekend from Friday till after lunch on Sunday. I ask your prayers for this outstanding group of ordained leaders, that the Holy Spirit will deepen our relationship with Christ Jesus.
Bishop Dave and I are each going to take a 'working sabbatical' i.e. one where we are free to pray, study and read (while maintaining the Sunday visitation and Ordination schedules). Bp Dave's will be Oct 24 - Nov 27. Mine will be Nov 27 to Dec 31. The Standing Committee was insistent that we each consider a non-working time in 2006, and we will try to do that.
Monday the campaign committee met and heard the reports of parish efforts now underway to support the SLC. Clark Curtis and Ray Farrara are very encouraged by initial reports.
The Construction Oversight Committee met Tuesday under the chairmanship of Col. Forest Rittgers on Tuesday and gave an ok to the construction of a new Infirmary adjoining the Beaver Cross site to be ready for use next summer.
In your charity, please pray for the sister of Fr John Kelly who is gravely ill with cancer. Fr John and Tish have returned from a visit to her in Virginia.
The campaign efforts for the SLC are now fully located at Christ the King as part of an overall integrated operation. Calls regarding the campaign, materials, etc. should go to the main number at 518-692-9550.

THANK YOU to the Parish Leaders who have launched the Grow the Vision campaign for the Spiritual Life Center in their own parishes. The SLC will be built by the sustained gifts of ordinary disciples who believe that God has a role for each household in this enterprise.
LORD JESUS, our King and our Savior: bless this whole Diocese, its clergy and people; fill our hearts with a spirit of generosity that the Spiritual Life Center may be completed for your glory, the good of your Church, the welfare of our parishes and the encouragement of our Youth; make it a place of healing and holiness and Christian community; use it to draw us to your Father in the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
In Christ,
