January 31st, 2006
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This resumes my Updates. Special thanks to Bishop Dave for taking this on during December/January. And to Canon Jerry Carroll and Maggie Haslacher with info as needed.
Parish Leadership Conferences have drawn to date 245 Leaders (Malone 130 and Oneonta 115). To date over 300 are registered for the weekend at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. Bishop Dave's presentation from How to Hit the Ground Running have been enthusiastically received. As I look out at the participants, it's obvious that those who bring a cadre with them, take an apostolic team back to the Parish. There is no fee for this Conference, one of the most useful in the church. Special thanks to Fr Gus Calvo and his team in Malone for the set up. (This year the temp was 48, contrasted with last year's -30; quite a difference!)
Friday registration begins at 4:30. Evensong at 5.
Saturday begins at 8:30am.
Saturday afternoon I look forward to celebrating an Anniversary Mass for Bill and Sandy Tatem marking 50 years of marriage. They are outstanding models of love and fidelity, an encouragement, and a reminder of the love of Christ for His church.
Welcome to the Rev'd Marilyn Sanders, who will be instituted as Rector of Saint Paul's, Albany on Sunday, Feb 5th, at 3:00 pm. (Great time choice given it's Superbowl Sunday!) Sunday morning Bishop DAve will be making a visitation to St Paul's, Greenwich.
Election accommodations: Click Here for a listing of hotel accommodations for the weekend of the Special Convention, March 24-25. It is especially important that folks make early reservations as there is a NACC Hockey Tournament that same weekend.
Thursday, Feb 2, there will be a prayer session for Spiritual Revival at 10:30 at the Healing Center Chapel at Christ the King. It is open to everyone.
Feb 2 is the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord in the Temple and the Purification of St Mary the Virgin. It is the foundation feast of the Community of St Mary. We ask your continued prayers for the Sisters, and for Vocations to the religious life in that community.
The monthly Eucharistic Holy Hour will be at Noon, Tuesday, Feb 7 at Christ the King Chapel. Lunch follows.
Carol and I are deeply appreciation of the many prayers and expressions of sympathy for our loss of an unborn grandchild, and for Mary and Jud. We look forward to seeing this child in heaven.
Information related to the election of our Bishop Coadjutor can be found here.
Prayers are requested for Father Walter Collins who is receiving chemotherapy. Also for Sean Wendell, son of Father Marty and Judy, who continues at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
LORD JESUS, give your Church in Albany such vigor in serving You, and sharing the gospel of repentance and forgiveness, that men and women will be drawn into you everlasting kingdom. Amen.
In Christ,
+ Dan
